Call to Prayer After Orlando Shooting

In response to the terrible shootings in Orlando, an act of terrorism and hate, we extend our sympathies and offer prayer for the victims, and the families and friends who lost loved ones.

We call on Canada’s Christians to pray for those impacted and those responding to their grief and their needs. May God comfort them. Our gay and lesbian neighbours are the focus of this terrorist act, and they need our love and care.

Let us strive for peace and for justice. Let us not be driven by hate or fear. True religion is that which cares for widows and fatherless children, which binds those who are wounded and cares for those with broken hearts, which uplifts all who are in distress.

We know that perfect love drives out fear. We are called to love our neighbor as we show kindness and respect to all people.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Related statements have also been released from the National Association of Evangelicals (USA) and the World Evangelical Alliance.
